Did not enjoy playing here. Even though I had played here several times, the staff were very rude to my girlfriend and I. They asked us three times to not drive on the fairways, even though we were taking pains to stay off the fairways. Apparently, other folks on the course were calling in about us to claim we had driven on the fairways. In addition, the starter misplaced us and the pace of play was way too fast. I think they were prejudice against us because I am under the age of 35 and my girlfriend who is a non-golfer was with me driving the cart.
WindRiver Golf Club is an excellent course with challenges for any player. The golf course is in terrific shape and the staff and personnel are there to make sure that you have a good time. I had the opportunity to play in a tournament there recently and the course was in terrific shape.
The greens had excellent coverage with no bare spots typical of a lot of courses this time of year. The fairways were in excellent shape and the sand traps were full with no rocks or gravel to damage your club face.
I recommend staying in the fairways as the grass outside the fairways is thick and lush, left just long enough to penalize you for missing the fairway.
WindRiver is about 20 minutes from West Knoxville and tee times are spaced to allow you to play at normal pace without feeling rushed. The course overlooks the lake and mountains can be seen in the distance. This is a fantastic East Tennessee course.

Not too far from I-75. Beautiful scenery, awesome course layout. Folks told me it would be tough, but I played to my handicap, so no complaining from me. There were only a few holes that gave you a tough, blind 2nd shot, and very little water comes into play. I would highly recommend playing this one. Great price, fun layout, staff was very helpful. Not sure how anyone could drop this place to a one star. Even if you are not happy with the staff, you spend most of the day on the course, not dealing with the staff. Great place, I will be back.
We were florists at a wedding held there on 09/30/17 - wonderful staff and such a gorgeous place! Would highly recommend and look forward to doing future weddings there!!
